Modern Love

Modern Love

~If the heart could think it would stop beating.
         ~Fernando Pessoa

I want to swim in the sea of your unruly hair
like a swallow I will gulp the morning air
and chirp at the sunrise

until I am senselessly tenderly drowned

I want to collect the strands you've lost
The tangled ones pulled out by combs
Strays falling tip to end
The lonely ones behind each temple
that lift and toss with the tugging wind.
